Despite being deeply involved in business affairs, Dr. Al Maskari also has profound compassion for the deprived, especially children and the elderly, which inspired her in 1993 to establish her family charity organization, United Mercy Foundation (whose motto is that “Mercy has no geographical, ethnic, cultural or religious affiliations”). The first initiative was to set up a soup kitchen in St. Petersburg, Russia; followed by financial sponsorship of hundreds of orphans in the Arab Gulf States, East Africa and India; and finally the construction and management of an orphanage and elderly people’s home in Kerala, India.

While her permanent home is in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Maskari has also been a resident of the USA for over three decades, lived in Europe and Australia and has traveled widely in the Middle East, Europe, South Pacific, Asia and Africa.
